When the world came to the Gold Coast
In 2018, Australia stepped onto a global stage. For 11 days in April, the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games welcomed athletes, officials and spectators from around the world.
The city transformed with venues, streets and shorelines becoming part of a shared experience – one designed to welcome, guide and energise more than 100,000 visitors.
Our role was simple. Make it feel seamless. Everywhere.
IVE delivered a connected signage and branding program at scale – bringing the Games to life across every touchpoint. From stadium wraps to wayfinding, from flagpoles to barrier covers, each element played its part in shaping the atmosphere.
The numbers tell part of the story.
2,500 crowd control barriers installed.
13,000 square metres of stadium wrap.
Enough event flagpoles to stretch as high as Cradle Mountain.
And 198 medals won by Australia across the Games.
Behind it all was a coordinated effort to ensure every piece showed up on time, on brand and ready for a global audience. Because when the world is watching, consistency isn’t a detail – it’s everything. A bold moment in Australia’s sporting history.
Delivered at scale, down to every detail.
