IVE is first uniform supplier to become a member of Seamless
We’re super excited to announce that we’ve officially joined Seamless Australia’s first clothing stewardship scheme.
As the first uniform supplier in Australia to become members, we’re proud to join the scheme which started operations in July this year. It allows us to take responsibility for the lifecycle of the uniforms we supply – from design through to reuse, reprocessing and end of life. By participating in the scheme, we contribute to reducing textile waste, conserving natural resources and promoting a circular economy. This forms part of our sustainability strategy - For a Brighter Future.
Olivia Tyler, IVE Group’s Chief People & Sustainability Officer says of the membership signing:
"We're delighted to become a member of Seamless – it’s a really important step for IVE and our clients, and speaks to our collective approach to sustainability and circularity. The challenges in the Australian clothing industry are considerable but there’s real strength in coming together and pooling resource, expertise and innovation to collectively drive change. Partnering with Seamless will give us the platform and tools to transform how uniforms are designed, produced, delivered and most importantly, treated at end-of-life. It’s an entire overhaul of how it’s currently done and we’re doing what it takes to lead this fresh and much needed approach in the space.”
While Seamless foundation members include David Jones, Lorna Jane and the Sussan Group, IVE is the first uniform supplier to become a member of the scheme. IVE supplies uniforms to a range of industries across retail, hospitality, security and lifestyle sectors.
With 1.4 billion units of new clothing manufactured or imported into Australia each year and over 200,000 tonnes ending up in Australian landfill every year), Seamless is on a mission to create systematic and transformational change through industry collaboration.
Karen Thomas, General Manager, Membership and Marketing at Seamless says of IVE’s membership:
"We're thrilled to welcome IVE Group, our first uniform provider, as such a valued member of Seamless. IVE’s responsible leadership and commitment to innovation is truly inspiring, and together we can drive continuous improvement and a brighter more sustainable future for the clothing industry, including uniforms."
Seamless members are responsible clothing brands and retailers that recognise that they are responsible for the entire life of the garments they place on the market, from design through to re-use and recycling.
